We are proud to announce the launch of our internship programme, a national initiative led by South Africa Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) in collaboration with Energy & Water Seta (EWSETA). This programme marks an exciting milestone in our journey, bringing fresh energy, diverse thinking, and future-focused talent into our business for the year ahead.

There is a real sense of excitement across our offices as we welcome a new cohort of interns, individuals who are not only academically equipped, but deeply passionate about shaping South Africa’s sustainable energy future.

Meet the Future of Energy

Kabelo – Environmental Intern

Kabelo’s journey into environmental management began with a high school geography teacher who sparked his passion for understanding the impact of human activity on the planet.

What excites him most is the opportunity to contribute to real-world sustainability solutions and explore how technology can drive environmental change.

With strengths in adaptability, problem-solving, and a strong willingness to learn, Kabelo is well-positioned to thrive in the fast-evolving renewable energy space.

He looks forward to applying theory to practice through hands-on project experience, while learning from the team around him. Outside of work, Kabelo enjoys video games, coding, and soccer; a reflection of his versatility both in and out of the workplace.

For Kabelo, Vutomi Energy is more than an internship but it is a launchpad into a career that will help shape Africa’s clean energy future.

Thapelo – IT Intern

Thapelo’s journey is a testament to curiosity and self-drive. A self-taught and certified developer, he discovered early on how small pieces of logic can solve complex, real-world problems.

What excites him most is seeing software interact with the physical world, from financial systems to energy infrastructure.

He brings strong capabilities in full-stack development and agile delivery, making him a natural fit for Vutomi Energy’s innovation-driven environment.

During his internship, Thapelo is eager to explore how technology integrates with energy project development, from live sensor data and predictive maintenance to operational dashboards.

For him, this experience represents a powerful transition from fintech into renewable energy as he develops into a software engineer contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
