Embracing Heritage Day – A Foundation for Our Future
On 24 September each year, South Africa pauses to honour Heritage Day, a national public holiday that invites us to celebrate the country’s rich tapestry of languages, cultures, and traditions. Originally known as Shaka Day in KwaZulu-Natal, it was broadened in 1996 to include every South African, becoming an essential part of our national identity
Recognised colloquially as Braai Day, the celebration reflects unity through shared tradition—gathering around an open fire, exchanging stories over food, and finding common ground across diversity
Life of Life” (Vutomi): Heritage as Our Guiding Light
At Vutomi Energy, we believe Heritage Day calls us not only to remember where we came from, but to harness that heritage as the light that powers our future. The word Vutomi means life in Xitsonga, and our journey mirrors this—drawing energy from our past to build sustainable, uplifting solutions for generations to come.
Grounded in our origins: Our shared traditions, languages, and natural beauty root us in story and belonging.
Fuel for collective purpose: The resilience embedded in our heritage strengthens our social cohesion and innovation.
Shaping tomorrow’s legacy: By honouring our past, we focus on delivering responsible energy solutions, rooted in empathy and unity.
As we celebrate Heritage Day, let us all pause to honour our beautiful home, our rich heritage, and our shared vision—a vision bright with promise; a future powered by life.
Happy Heritage Day from all of us at Vutomi Energy.
