The 2nd Annual Economic Growth Indaba took place recently at the Boschfontein Community Hall, gathering key players under the theme: “Sustainable Economic Growth and Human Capital Development.” With a strong focus on agriculture—the heartbeat of Nkomazi’s economy—the event brought together stakeholders from the Nkomazi Special Economic Zone (SEZ), the Business Chamber, Mpumalanga Economic Growth Agency (MEGA)Mpumalanga Green Cluster Agency, Bukhosi, and several local business representatives.

In her keynote address, the Executive Mayor Cllr PP Magagula emphasized the municipality’s commitment to unlocking Nkomazi’s full economic and agricultural potential. She highlighted the urgent need to translate local opportunities — especially in farming and agro-processing — into meaningful, sustainable progress for communities. Tourism development, investment attraction, and improved public communication also formed part of the day’s critical discussions.

Representing Vutomi Energy, Marketing Manager Ndzalama Ngwenya attended the indaba and reflected on the importance of hearing directly from the community. Understanding people’s needs, she noted, is essential for aligning Vutomi’s social responsibility initiatives with real, on-the-ground priorities.

“Transparent communication builds trust,” she added, “and events like this remind us that development must always be community-centred.”

The indaba ultimately reinforced a shared vision: strengthening partnerships, unlocking agricultural value, and empowering communities toward long-term, sustainable growth.
