Established in 2019 by CEO Timothy Simon Whati, Vutomi has been dedicated to advancing energy independence across Africa, bringing clean, reliable power to emerging markets and fostering economic empowerment.

Based in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, Vutomi Energy has rapidly expanded its portfolio, starting with the acquisition of the Newcastle co-generation plant, which is being upgraded to a 100 MW capacity. Our vision is ambitious: to become a leading independent energy supplier across Africa and beyond, delivering renewable energy through projects in solar, wind, gas, and biomass.

Our current projects include not only the Newcastle Gas to Power Plant but also a 3 GW pipeline of large-scale energy initiatives. By partnering with industry-leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and embracing advanced technology, we are focused on delivering power solutions that meet today’s demands while paving the way for a sustainable tomorrow.
